BSDA & Smile Institute

Buddhism for Social Development Action (BSDA) is a Cambodian NGO established in 2005 by seven monks.

BSDA’s programs cover a large scope, including education and vocational training for Orphans and vulnerable Children, Community and democracy development and work with youngsters who dropped out of school due to social marginalization.

Among other programs, BSDA created the Smile Institute, where its beneficiaries can gain education and learn about valuable life hood skills. One of their most successful projects being the Smile Restaurant, located on the Kampong Cham Riverside which serves as a hub for local ex-pats and tourists as well as providing employment and training for local youths.

Hanchey Bamboo Resort is the latest of the BSDA flagship programs. The resort runs as a training center providing education and work experience for the marginal youth of the Kampong Cham region. We regularly host training days and staff retreats for BSDA and Smile staff, to support in skill development, teamwork and provide further real world experience for our trainees.
